Love it or hate it, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Pricing is on its way to a Jeep showroom near you this fall. Today, Chrysler announced the different trim levels, features and pricing for its new compact utility with a starting price of $22,995 (*not including $995 for destination), which is $400 less than the 2012 Liberty it ostensibly replaces.
Impressive fuel economy expected from new V6 and nine-speed transmission; sharp, modern design; substantial leap in interior quality compared to Liberty predecessor.
Softer design marks radical departure from classic Cherokee look; crossover underpinnings limit off-road ability.
2014 Jeep Cherokee Pricing and Release Date
Meanwhile some rumors told that 2014 Jeep Cherokee release date will be in late this year. Pricing for the base Cherokee Sport will likely start in the mid-$20,000 range, which sits between the smaller $18,500 (base price) Compass and the larger $30,000 Grand Cherokee, effectively providing a brand-new product in a crucial size and price niche. We promise that we will update soon after Jeep announces 2014 Jeep Cherokee pricing.
Jeep hasn’t confirmed details, but a 2.4-liter four-cylinder will likely power the base Cherokee, while upper trims get a 3.2-liter V6, a smaller version of the engine found in the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. The Cherokee will also feature Chrysler’s first nine-speed automatic transmission, developed by the same manufacturer that makes the eight-speed gearboxes in the Charger, 300 and Ram 1500 pickup. Jeep hasn’t officially said anything about the Cherokee’s drivetrain, but we’d guess both front-wheel and four-wheel drive versions will be offered.
Those nine forward gears will help the Cherokee deliver on Jeep’s claim of 45 percent better fuel economy than the Liberty, which uses a 3.7-liter V6 and four-speed automatic transmission to return 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.
Jeep designers were inspired to create a vehicle that remains true to the brand while moving it into the next era with a shape that is as efficient as the vehicle and ages gracefully without losing the DNA that makes it a Jeep. The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee not only looks efficient and capable, but is efficient and capable – on-road, off-road and in all weather conditions.
The inspiration for the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee interior included exotic locations and terrain around the world that brought beautiful imagery to mind. The Cherokee interior is a sophisticated blend of hand-sculpted fluid shapes, high-quality materials, innovative color and material choices, precision craftsmanship, state-of-the-art technology and thoughtful, clever features. It is inviting and comfortable.
